Entrevista exclusiva com J.D. Williams

Olá, senhoras e senhores fanáticos por séries! É com muito prazer que eu posto no Seriáticos a primeira entrevista EXCLUSIVA que fizemos no site!

O entrevistado da vez foi J.D. Williams, ator que já participou de séries como OZ e The Good Wife, além de The Wire, a minha série favorita.

J.D. foi muito gentil e nos respondeu oito perguntas por e-mail! É claro que tive vontade de fazer mais perguntas, porém não seria legal tomar muito tempo do ator. De qualquer maneira, deu para saber bastante sobre sua carreira, futuros projetos e da participação do ator em The Wire.

1 – Como foi o seu processo de casting para The Wire?

J.D. Williams - A incrível mulher que me selecionou para o elenco de Oz, Alexa Fogel, também me selecionou para The Wire. Ou seja, houve um pequeno “nepotismo” envolvido, haha. 

2 – Quando você leu o roteiro do episódio piloto de The Wire, você imaginou que a série seria esse imenso sucesso?

J.D. Williams - Não, eu não pensava dessa maneira. A HBO estava com tudo, produzindo Sopranos e Sex and th City, então eu sabia que seria algo de qualidade. Na verdade, eu queria mesmo era o papel do D’Angelo.

3 – Como se preparou para interpretar na série um traficante de drogas?

J.D. Williams - A interpretação de um traficante de drogas não é tão complexa, mas sim a pessoa por trás do traficante. Sou de New Jersey, então fingir ser de Nova York e adjacências não é tão difícil, porém acrescentar elementos do sotaque de Baltimore, dialeto, estilo de vestir e história foi o que eu tive de estudar e aprender. Da mesma maneira que The Walking Dead não é sobre zumbis, mas sobre quem era aquela pessoa antes de transformar-se em zumbi.

4 - Seu personagem em The Wire, Bodie, morreu na quarta temporada do show. Como é, para um ator, ler o roteiro e descobrir que o seu personagem vai morrer? Alguém te falou que seu personagem morreria antes de você ler o roteiro?

J.D. Williams -  Eu comecei a me dar conta de que ele estava em perigo enquanto filmávamos o episódio 3, eu acho. Me contaram que ele iria morrer enquanto filmávamos em torno do episódio 6, por aí . Como um ator empregado, é fácil se iludir e não ver a história como ela de fato é, porém, olhando como um fã você pode ver tudo mais claramente... então, vendo como um fã, eu posso dizer que vi de longe a morte do personagem e que adorei!

5 – E quanto a sua carreira? Pode me dizer quando o veremos nas telas novamente?

J.D. Williams - Na verdade, estarei estrelando, coestrelando e produzindo vários projetos independentes, como An American in Hollywood, Happy New Year, Shanghai Hotel, Surviving Family. De projetos mais comerciais, tenho um papel recorrente em The Good Wife. Também estou trabalhando no meu próprio site de multimídia, chamado Norkprojects, que estará no ar no outono.   

6 – Você me disse que é um grande fã de The Walking Dead. Então, dentre as séries de TV que estão no ar hoje, qual sua favorita?

J.D. Williams - As minhas séries atuais favoritas são The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, The Simpsons/Family Guy/Futurama. E menções honrosas para Breaking Bad, Lilyhammer, The Big Bang Theory. 

7 – Quando te contactei você foi muito gentil e falou “qualquer coisa para o Brasil”. Você já esteve no Brasil? Se sim, gostou daqui?

J.D. Williams - Nunca estive no Brasil, mas sonho com isso o TEMPO TODO, haha. Como vocês (brasileiros) conseguem fazer qualquer coisa com mulheres como a Andreza Soares (Mulher Melancia) andando por aí? MAXPAYNE 3 me deu ótimas ideias. 

8 – Mande uma mensagem para seus fãs e os fãs de The Wire que estão lendo essa entrevista ao redor do mundo. 

J.D. Williams - Obrigado pelo interesse e fiquem atentos para meus novos projetos... e se vocês me virem no Brasil, não fiquem tímidos e digam “Whatup” (E aí?)

Hello guys? I'm very honored to present the first EXCLUSIVE interview that I made on Seriáticos.

I had the pleasure to interview J.D. Williams, the actor that participated of Oz, The Good Wife and The Wire (which is my favorite series ever).

J.D. was very kind and answered eight questions by email! Of course I wanted to ask more questions, but would not be cool to take too much time of the actor. Anyway, we can know a lot about his career, future projects and his participation on The Wire. Hope you guys like it!

1 - How was your casting process for The Wire?

J.D. Williams - The incredible woman who cast me in Oz,Alexa Fogel,also cast me in The Wire. So there may have been a little "nepotism" involved,haha.

2 - When you first read the pilot script of The Wire, did you think that the series would be this huge success?

J.D. Williams -  No. I wasn't thinking in those terms. HBO was already firing on all cylinders with Sopranos and Sex in the City,so I knew it would be quality. I actually wanted the role of D'angelo.

3 - How did you prepare yourself to play a drug dealer on The Wire?

J.D. Williams -  The actual drug dealing is not so complex its the person behind the dealing. I'm from New Jersey so pretending to be from ny and so forth is not difficult,but the added elements of Baltimore accents,dialect,style of dress,and history was what I had to study and learn. Like on the Walking Dead its rarely, if ever,about the zombie. It's about who that zombie was.

4 - Your character, Boddie, died on season 4. How it is for an actor to read the script and know that your character is going to die? Did someone tell you that your character was going to die before you read the script?

J.D. Williams -  I started figuring he was in jeopardy around the filming of episode 3. I was told around about the filming of episode 6. As an actor and employee its easy to delude yourself and not see the story for what it is but as a fan you can see much more clearly...so as a fan I saw it comming from a mile away. And I loved it.

5 - How about your career? Can you tell us when we are going to see you on screen again?

J.D. Williams - I be actually been starring co starring and producing a lot of upcoming independent projects. Look out for An American in Hollywood,Happy New Year,Shanghai Hotel,Surviving Family. For more mainstream fare I'm recurring on The Good Wife. And I'm also working on my own multi media website NorkProjects to be up by the fall.

6 - You told me that you are a big fan of The Walking Dead. So, among the TV series that are on air today, which one is your favorite?

J.D. Williams - My currency favorite series' are: The Walking Dead,Game of Thrones,The Simpsons/Family Guy/Futurama. Honerable mentions Breaking Bad,Lilyhammer,The Big Bang Theory.

7 - When I contacted you, you were very kind and said "Anything from Brazil". Have you ever been in Brazil? If yes, did you like it?

J.D. Williams -  Never been to Brazil,but I dream about it ALL the time,haha. How do you guys get anything done with woman like Andressa Soares running around? Max Payne 3 gave me some great ideas.
